Jiangsu University of science and technology is located in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, which is a famous historical and cultural city with beautiful scenery. It is a general university with engineering as the main subject and distinctive features, and with a complete education system for bachelor, master and doctor.     The school has a long history, multiple sources and profound cultural heritage. The school originated from Shanghai Dagong vocational school in 1933. In 1953, the school of Shanghai shipbuilding industry, the first secondary professional school of shipbuilding in New China, was established. In 1970, it moved to Zhenjiang. In 1971, it was renamed as Zhenjiang shipbuilding industry school. In 1978, it was upgraded to undergraduate and renamed as Zhenjiang shipbuilding college. In 1993, it was renamed as Huadong shipbuilding industry college. In 1999, the school was transferred from the former China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation to Jiangsu Province for management. Jiangsu Jianghai trade school was merged in 1999, and the sericulture Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences was merged with the school in 2000. In 2004, the University was renamed Jiangsu University of science and technology. In 2012, the people's Government of Jiangsu Province, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Corporation jointly built Jiangsu University of science and technology. In 2016, the people's Government of Jiangsu Province and the State Administration of science, technology and industry for national defense jointly built Jiangsu University of science and technology.
